Frequently asked questions
FAQs
How does Sunnie work without an app?
Sunnie has a built-in UV sensor that detects sunlight intensity in real-time. The LED automatically changes color based on the current UV Index—no phone, no app, no setup required. Just turn it on and it starts monitoring instantly.
Is Sunnie waterproof?
Sunnie is IP55 rated, which means it's weatherproof and can handle rain, splashes, and pool water. You can confidently bring it to the beach, pool, or on camping trips. (Note: It's water-resistant, not submersible—don't leave it underwater.
How long does the battery last?
Sunnie runs on a CR2032 coin battery (included) that lasts approximately 3-4 months with regular use. While Sunnie batteries cannot be replaced on your own, we are working on a Sunnie recycling program!
Can I cancel my pre-order?
Absolutely. You can cancel your pre-order at any time before it ships for a full refund. No questions asked. Just email us at hello@bringsunnie.com.
How does the reapply reminder work?
Press Sunnie's top to activate Sunnie Reapply mode. It will flash every 2 hours to remind you to reapply sunscreen. The flashing is bright enough to notice but not annoying. You can turn it off anytime by pressing the button again.
How accurate is the UV sensor?
Sunnie uses the same type of UV photodiode sensor found in professional weather stations. It's calibrated to match the EPA's UV Index scale with ±0.5 index point accuracy. (For example, if the actual UV Index is 7, Sunnie will show 6.7-7.5.)
Where should I place Sunnie?
Place Sunnie anywhere that gets direct sunlight: on your beach bag, cooler, hat, umbrella pole, stroller, or kayak. It comes with reusable adhesive strips that stick to any surface. The UV sensor needs to face upward (toward the sky) to get accurate readings.
Does Sunnie work indoors?
Sunnie is designed for outdoor use. Indoors, it will show green (low UV) because windows block most UV radiation. It's most useful when you're outside in direct sunlight.
